MU OET 2018

The MU OET 2018 examination (Manipal University Online Entrance Test) will be conducted by the Manipal University. The online application form is available now. The last date to submit the application form is on 11th March 2018. The exam will be conducted in many cities across India, the exam is scheduled to be held in the second week of April 2018. It is a University level online entrance exam conducted once in a year.

MU OET 2018 Application form

The candidate can fill the application form by visiting the official website of MU OET i.e. www.manipalotbs.com. The password will be given and kept secured for future usage. Candidate can log in to the website multiple times with the password provided to fill an application form or to download the admit card.

The application form will be available for filling the details from the first week of November 2017.

  • Candidate can fill the application form from the first week of November to the second week of March 2018.
  • It is advised to fill the details like personal and academic in the online application form carefully.
  • Candidates are required to upload their scanned photograph and signature in the application form.

Here are the steps to be followed to fill the online application form successfully.

  • For MU OET registration 2018, the candidate needs to fill in the details and get registered. The application number will get generated during the registration.
  • Next, fill all the important details like contact, communication details, and address of the candidate.
  • Candidate needs to fill the qualification details. They need to enter the qualification details and academic details.
  • The selection of the course is made after entering the details. Also, the application fee payment is made. Payment can be made through net banking/credit card/ debit card or through demand draft.
  • After making the payment candidates need to upload their photograph and signature. They can also send the soft copy of their signature and photograph.

MU OET 2018 Application Fee

  • The application fee is Rs. 600 and for entrance test the fee is Rs.1400.
  • Application fee can be paid through credit/debit card or net banking.
  • Moreover, the payment can be made through offline mode i.e. DD in favor of Manipal University can be made.

MU OET 2018 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criterion is different for various courses. The common eligibility criterion for the courses is that there is no age limit and candidates of any age can apply for this examination.

For B. Tech Course

  • Candidate should have qualified 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized board.
  • They should have passed the exam with mathematics, physics, and English as a mandatory subject.
  • They should have secured minimum 50% marks in mathematics, physics and any one of the optional subject.
  • Also, the candidate needs to score minimum 50% mark in MU OET 2018 to qualify for admission.
  • There is no age limit for this course.

For B. Tech Lateral Entry

  • Candidate needs to pass three-year diploma in engineering and 10+2 examination from a recognized university.
  • They should have qualified 10+2 with mathematics as the main subject.
  • They also need to have scored at least 45% marks in the qualifying examination.
  • There is no age limit for this course.

For M.Tech

  • Candidate needs to clear their BE/B.Tech or AMIE or equivalent exam from the recognized university.
  • They need to attain at least 50% aggregate marks.
  • Also, they need to secure at least 50% marks in MU OET 2018.
  • For this course, there is no age limit.


  • Candidate needs to have passed 10+2, A level, IB, American 12th grade or equivalent exam from a recognized board.

MU OET 2018 Fee structure

For B.Tech (Computer Science/ Computer & Communication / Electronics & Communication/ Mechanical/ Mechatronics), (Electrical & Electronics/ Civil/ Information Technology/ Aeronautical), and (Chemical/ Automobile)

  • These courses have 4 years of duration
  • Caution money deposit is Rs.30000.
  • Course fee is going to be taken in four instalments, Rs.295000, Rs.287000, Rs.287000, Rs.287000, respectively. The total fee for batch 2018-2019 is Rs.1411000.

For B. Tech (Instrumentation & Control/ Biomedical/ Biotechnology/ Industrial & Production/ Print & Media Tech)

  • These courses have 4 years of duration
  • Caution money deposit is Rs.30000.
  • The course fee going to be taken in four installments, Rs.295000, Rs.372000, Rs.372000, Rs.372000, respectively. The total fee for batch 2018-2019 is Rs. 1,156,000.

MU OET 2018 Admit card

The admit card or e-hall ticket will be available for download from the official website of MU OET. Candidates can apply for various courses through this examination. Candidate should note that the admit card will not be sent through postal mode or by fax. Only through online mode candidate will get admit card to download.

  • Candidate needs to visit the official website of MU OET i.e. www.manipalotbs.com.
  • Next, enter the application number and password.
  • Click on the log in button.
  • Download the admit card and save it for future use.
  • Candidates can take the print out.

Candidates need to bring the following document while reporting at the exam center of MU OET 2018.

  • Copies of two hall ticket.
  • One photocopy of the application form.
  • Valid I’d proof like passport, driving license. EC voter ID card/ Pan card/ college ID card.

MU OET 2018 Exam Pattern

This examination will take place through online mode. In the question paper, there will be 200 questions from the subjects like Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry, English and general aptitude.

Candidate appearing in this exam will be given two hours and thirty minutes to complete the exam. It is important to have a clear idea about the exam pattern; it will help the candidates in their preparations.

Key points related to the exam pattern

  • The total number of question will depend on the courses selected by the candidate.
  • This exam will have two to four sections and they will differ based on the course selected.
  • For undergraduate course exam, there is no negative marking.
  • For M.Tech, M.Sc. exam for every correct answer four marks is going to be awarded and for every wrong answer, one mark will get deducted. For the unanswered question, there is no marking.

  • For this course, the exam is going to be conducted through online mode only.
  • Exam duration is 2 hours and 30 minutes.
  • The question paper will have multiple choice questions.
  • Total 200 questions will be asked from different subjects in this exam.
  • For Physics and chemistry, there will be 50 questions for each subject. For Mathematics there will be 70 questions and for English and general aptitude, there will be 30 questions.

B.Tech (LE)

  • For this course the exam will be conducted through online mode only.
  • Exam duration will be 1 hours.
  • The question paper will have multiple choice questions.
  • Total 90 questions will be asked from different subjects for this course.
  • For Physics and chemistry, there will be 10 questions, for each subject. For Mathematics there will be 20 questions, and for English, there will be 20 questions.
  • For BSc. Graduates the question paper will have 70 question from mathematics and 20 questions from English.


  • For this course, the exam will be conducted through online mode only.
  • Exam duration will be 1 hour.
  • The question paper will have multiple choice questions.
  • Total 60 questions will be asked for M.Tech and 100 questions for MCA, from different subjects.
  • For respective disciplines, there will be 50 questions. For engineering Mathematics, there will be 10 questions.

M.Sc nursing- Master of Science in nursing

  • For this course, the exam will be conducted through online mode only.
  • Exam duration will be 1 hour.
  • The question paper will have multiple choice questions.
  • Total 200 questions will be asked from the subjects of B.Sc nursing.

Master of Pharmacy

  • For this course, the exam will be conducted through online mode only.
  • Exam duration will be 2 hours and 3o minutes.
  • The question paper will have multiple choice questions.
  • Total 200 questions will be asked from different subjects.

MU OET 2018 Cut off

The minimum marks required for the candidates to qualify for the examination is the cut off marks. It will be announced along with the declaration of MU OET 2018 result.  Candidates can check the cut off marks for various courses for the previous year. They can refer to these cut off mark and get an idea of marks they need to qualify this exam.

  • For computer science, the cutoff mark was 19.
  • For Mechanical engineering, the cut off mark was 58.
  • For electrical engineering, the cut off mark was 85.
  • For electronics and communication engineering the cut off the mark was 37.
  • For information engineering, the cut off mark was 66.

MU OET 2018 Counselling

The counselling process will start from the first week of June 2018. The cut off marks will be declared at the time of result declaration. It is the minimum marks required for the candidate to qualify for the examination. Candidate meeting the cut off marks requirement and other eligibility criteria will be called for the counselling process.

  • Candidates are required to attain the score which is equal or more than the cut off list declared. Moreover, they also need to meet other eligibility criteria.
  • For the first round of counselling, the candidates will be required to get their documents verified.
