5 Important things to know about the entrance exam

JEE Main 2018 date of commencement has been announced by CBSE on the official website of JEE in the recent notification. As per the notification, Pen-paper test will be conducted on April 08, 2018 (Sunday). However, the date (JEE Main 2018 date) of commencement of online has not been released yet. JEE Main 2018 is conducted by CBSE for admitting eligible candidates in undergraduate engineering programs offered by the prestigious and leading Engineering Institutes viz. IITs/ NITs/ IIITs and other public/ private Institutes. JEE 2018 will be conducted at national level and this time Gujarat/ Odisha/ Madhya Pradesh/ Haryana/ Uttarakhand/ and Nagaland states will also participate in JEE Exam and no separate state level entrance test will be conducted for admission to Engineering course in these states. Joint Entrance Examination Main 2018 is one of the toughest and prestigious entrance examination of the country. Lakhs of students compete every year the level of competition is very high therefore candidates shall prepare very hard to appear in this examination. Adhaar Card mandatory for JEE Main 2018

It is mandatory for the applicants who are preparing to appear in JEE Main 2018 to have their Adhaar card ready while applying for the examination. Students who are enrolled in CBSE School must have their Adhaar card submitted while enrolling for CBSE Board examination. However, for State Board schools it is not compulsory for the candidates to submit their Adhaar card while enrolling for Board examination. Candidates who do not have Adhaar card must apply for it at earliest so that they could enter the details while applying for Joint Entrance Examination Main 2018. Foreign students who don’t have Adhaar card shall provide their passport number.

Mode of Examination

Paper I will be conducted in offline mode i.e. it will be a pen-paper test and in online mode as well i.e. it will be a computer-based test. Paper II will be a pen-paper test conducted in offline mode only. CBSE has made no update in the mode of examination of Main 2018.

JEE Main Paper I and II

Candidates have the choice to write any single paper or both as per their preference. Those who want to join BE/B.Tech program shall write Paper I, while applicants who want to apply for B.Arch. course could write both Paper I and II or just Paper II. Paper I is a qualifier paper for JEE Advanced 2018.

JEE Main ranking for NITs not for IITs

Applicants have to qualify JEE Main 2018 to appear in JEE Advanced 2018 which is a gateway to IITs. However, rank is considered for admission to NITs. National Institute of Technology (NIT) is a national institute of higher education and is governed by NIT Council and funded by the Government of India. Here are total 31 NITs across the country and admission to NITs is given through the merit of Joint Entrance Examination Main 2018 and also candidates who have passed 10+2 with minimum 75% or were in the top 20 percentile are also considered eligible to get admission in NITs.

JEE Main 2018 online application form

Online application form is expected to be released on November 28, 2017, however, this is a tentative date and official declaration of the application date has not been made yet. CBSE will announce the availability of online application form on its official website. Candidates are instructed to visit the website of Joint Entrance Examination Main to get the latest update. Applicants have to first register themselves and then use their login id and password to fill up the application form.
